A Little Backstory
I never envisioned being in the position I am in today. Not only owning and running a small business but being proud to say I built it from the ground up. There was no existence of A Bark Above 6 years ago, I only started the process as I had landed in a wonderful role, working with Veterans and their Assistance Dogs while running puppy pre-school class at a local veterinary clinic!
During the early days, I was blessed to be guided by an industry leader, remarkable person and phenomenal trainer who was nothing short of wonderful. Rita Lynd eagerly welcomed my questions, supported my goals and passed on her knowledge, class programs and advice from the start. Without her, I don’t think any of this would have happened to the level it has and I am eternally grateful for such a wonderful woman
My Fly, she was the reason behind A Bark Above and her loyalty, drive and personality is what got me through some of the darkest times of my life and really set the foundations for our school. She truly was a remarkable dog and paved the way for me into the business we are today. In losing her, I lost part of my heart and soul which I will never get back, but her legacy she left behind is something beautiful and we move forward with her spirit beside us, and continue to work on this wonderful and special journey, now with Aurora
The fun fact, in short is that I never intended to become a full time Dog Training school. I was only planning on working in a snippet of the industry but when messages started to gently flow in for puppy training, behaviour concerns and other dog training related topics, I realised there was a need for a quality service and that leads us to where we are today

The highlight for 2024 so far was being named the winner at the Australian Champion Small Business Awards for Pet Training. It is an absolute honour to be held at this level and it has really driven our changes moving forward
